Andrea Asprelli

Joe Cirotti Quintet

The Joe Cirotti Trio is a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge.

In 2015, Joe Cirotti, Mike Alexander, and Pete Lister’s respective multi instrumentalist upbringings fused with a collective passion for the roots of American folk, country, and bluegrass music.

In this way the trio’s bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for cigarettes and whiskey.

Timmy Coyle has filled in for Mike since 2021 on multiple instruments, and they now occasionally play in tandem when the band plays as a quartet.

The group also appears in various quartet and quintet line-ups, incorporating percussion or drums (or fiddle.. or dobro) into the arrangements.

The Dishonest Fiddlers

A “GOOD TIME STRING BAND” from Northeast Pennsylvania, THE DISHONEST FIDDLERS pick through a mixed bag of folk, bluegrass, and jug band inspired music.

Led by singer/songwriter Dave Brown (guitar/harmonica), the band features: Shawn Caden (mandolin/guitar), Jasper Paciotti (bass) and Jami Novak (percussion).

Since forming in 2013, the band has released 3 studio albums and have played at music festivals and theatres throughout the Northeast.

Kenny Roby and Amy Laber

A songwriter’s songwriter, Kenny Roby has been called a master at his craft. Roby’s new home in upstate New York, touching on the spirit of previous artists who
once roamed the the Catskill Mountains like The Band, Bobby Charles and Tim Hardin.  A native of the Carolinas, Kenny Roby was originally known for fronting 6 String Drag, pioneers in the Alt-Country and Americana music movements of the '90s. The band was produced by roots music godfather Steve Earle and signed to his E-Squared Records. Since 6 String Drag’s breakup in 1998, Roby has released 6 solo records as well as a live duo record with Neal Casal. Kenny Roby has been praised by numerous songwriting peers, including Michael Hurley, Citizen Cope and Ryan Adams. He’s garnered critical acclaim in Billboard, Rolling Stone, No Depression and Boston Globe, while having shared stages with a plethora of well-known artists in and out of the roots music community.

Longtime Hudson Valley-based troubadour Amy Laber’s music is a potent reminder of the power of simplicity, the depth of country soul and the magic of an open heart. In his review of her album “Mountainside Wildflower,” Seth Rogovoy of Chronogram says, “Amy Laber’s vision of country music digs deep beyond superficialities of form and twang to the bedrock of soul music with a lower-case “s”—which, if you think about it, is what powers great music of any kind. Laber displays plenty of soul here, in her haunting vocals, which connect Loretta Lynn to Patti Smith; in her reliance on modal drones and in her resonant writing about life and love and nature and music itself.”

Together, Amy and Kenny perform a mix of their original tunes as well as traditional
American folk music.

Andrea Asprelli

Andrea Asprelli is based out of Brooklyn, NY and writes, sings, and plays fiddle and banjo. Formerly of Cricket Tell the Weather, she has released two albums of original music, as well as the Masters Radio Volume 1, a compilation of live recordings from the Masters Radio concert series. She plays freelance with the Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective, Karen and the Sorrows, and others. She performs duo under her name with guitarist and collaborator Jason Borisoff.

The 5th Annual String Fling is sponsored by UGI Utilities and LT Verrastro. Supported by Lackawanna County and the PA Council on the Arts.
