Lamar Franklin Institute Science Series: Flight

Explore the exciting history of flight From Leonardo da Vinci to the space shuttle. Investigate the Bernoulli principle, and learn how airplane wings provide lift. Mechanical birds, hot air balloons, gliders, and even a rocket launch are used to demonstrate the forces of flight.

Come with us on a wild journey through The Human Body. Discover how nutrients in the food we eat are converted into the energy that keeps us on the move. We’ll learn how our muscles work, and what our blood actually accomplishes as it flows through our veins and arteries. Lamar Franklin Institute Science Series: Hot and Cold

Turn your students into molecules as we explore the three states of matter and challenge students’ ideas about what is hot and what is cold. Make balloons shrink, bubbles freeze, and a rubber ball shatter by using liquid nitrogen (N2).

LD Session 1: Mythical Creatures!

“Unicorns and Mermaids and Dragons, OH MY!”  Campers will have a blast using their imagination during this magical camp session!  Young performers will develop characters, sing songs, learn choreography and create art inspired by their favorite mythical creatures!  At the end of the week, campers will present an original musical and visual art show for friends and family!

SHOWCASE: Friday, July 13; Art Show at 1:00 PM, Show at 1:30 PM in the Little Dragon Playhouse.

THREE PERFORMANCES: Friday, July 27 at 1:00 PM (Invited Guests) and 7:00 PM and Saturday, July 28 at 11:00 AM on the SCC’s Historic Main Stage!

During this whirlwind camp session, our students will hop in a time machine and journey to the past!  Campers will develop performing and visual arts skills while learning songs and dances from the Hoppin’ 50s, the Groovy 60s, the Rockin’ 80s and SO much more!  The session will culminate with a special performance and visual art show for friends and family!
