It’s 1962, and spunky, plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has one big dream – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When she finally gets her shot, she’s transformed from social outcast to sudden star. In balancing her newfound power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone the reigning Miss Teen Hairspray, Amber von Tussle, and integrate a TV network in the process. With the help of her outsized mom, Edna, and guest DJ, Motormouth Maybelle, the rhythm of Tracy’s new beat just might prove unstoppable.

Sha la la Joseph you’re doing fine! You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time! One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.
Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right hand man and reunites him with his family.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat is presented through an exclusive arrangement with R & H Theatricals and The Really Useful Group Limited. www.rnh.com.

Camp Healing Hearts Memorial Service and Exhibit
Aug 18 @ 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Camp Healing Hearts is a five day experience to provide grief education to children ages 8-14 who have experienced the death of a loved one. Children will work with trained bereavement counselors and members of our community to help them progress towards acceptance of the loss and will use the arts as a means of self-expression.

This 5-day camp will begin and end with the same activities every day to provide a sense of routine, consistency and ultimately closure for the entire process. Younger campers will be “buddy-ed” up with an older camper to facilitate teamwork and understanding. Each session will be a different theme explored through the arts

Community volunteers will lend their time and talents to campers with artistic projects culminating in a Memorial Service designed and presented by the campers at the camp’s completion. This performance and exhibit will be held at the Scranton Cultural Center Friday, August 18th at 3:30 PM.
