Bye Bye Birdie, Young Performers’ Edition
SummerStage performers have got A LOT OF LIVIN’ TO DO as they kick off summer camp with this classic show! Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl Kim McAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful, high-energy score, plenty of roles and a hilarious script, this hit show will help performers and audiences alike PUT ON A HAPPY FACE! The session concludes with three performances on the SCC’s Main Stage!
** SPECIAL EXCEPTION: Bye Bye Birdie is open to performers in 4th Grade!**
THREE PERFORMANCES: Friday, July 26 at 1 PM and 7 PM Saturday July 27 at 11 AM on the Main Stage!

Little Dragon Session 2: July 15-19, 2019
Arts Around the World!
Campers will spend a week jet-setting around the globe as they explore visual and performing arts techniques from every continent! Cultural dances, French painting styles, wacky Shakespearean wordplay and Chinese paper lanterns are just a few themes we’ll discover during this fascinating, diverse and FUN week of camp! The session will culminate with a special performance and visual art show for family and friends!
SHOWCASE: Friday, July 19; Art show at 1 PM, Performance at 1:30 PM in the Little Dragon Playhouse!
TUITION: Half Day: $125, Full Day: $225

In the jungle, the mighty jungle…Explore the animal kingdom during this WILD camp session! Campers will spend the week on a safari, deep in the jungle while creating dances, making crafts and singing songs inspired by their favorite animals! The session will culminate with a special performance and visual art show for family and friends!

The Scranton Cultural Center’s Youth Theatre Summer Camp Program will present BYE BYE BIRDIE Young Performers Edition.
A loving send-up of the early 1960s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, BYE BYE BIRDIE remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, BIRDIE continues to thrill audiences around the world.
Hit songs include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie.”
Event Seating is General Admission, First-Come, First-Served, Held in the Weinberg Theatre of the Scranton Cultural Center. The Seating chart reflects the general layout for this event, but specific seat locations are subject to change.
