Tom Perrone
Born in 1970 and raised in the small town of Old Forge in Northeast Pennsylvania, Tom Perrone Jr. has been a bluesman since he was 13 years old when his parents bought him his first harmonica. After a few years of driving the family crazy with his relentless practicing Tom began entertaining his friends and family with soulful harmonica arrangements he had learned over the years. Tom’s very first band was a blues band in the early 1990’s called Blue Heat. Although the band didn’t last long his desire to play the blues did. Between raising a family and day jobs, Tom’s harmonica career had to take a back seat for a while. As he nears 50 years old Tom can be seen more often on stage at local jams and open mics pursuing his passion for playing the blues. Some of his influences are Sonny Boy Williamson II, Sonny Terry, Little Walter, and the Blues Brothers.

Lackawanna County Commission for Women &

Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple present
“The Flight of Jackie Cochran”
By Award Winning Playwright, Nancy Hasty
Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 6:00pm (Doors open at 5:00pm)
Shopland Hall, 4th Floor, Scranton Cultural Center
Seating is General Admission, First-Come, First-Served
Show runs approximately two hours with one intermission
Ticket includes a post-show reception with light hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, soda and cash bar for mixed drinks
Nancy Hasty’s one woman show, “The Flight of Jackie Cochran,” tells the story of a brilliantly gifted – though mostly forgotten – aviatrix and her improbable mystifying life. With only a second grade education, Jackie was the recipient of honorary doctorates; growing up barefoot in a flour sack, she was later named one of the “Ten Best Dressed Women in America;” born in obscurity and poverty in the Florida backwoods, she became a friend to presidents and royalty. Her life also a life of dazzling accomplishments and many firsts: the first woman to break the sound barrier, fly a bomber, and later a jet, over the ocean; make a blind instrument landing, take off and land on an aircraft carrier. She commanded the WASPs in World War II and set more speed, distance and altitude records than anyone, man or woman, in the history of aviation. She was also beautiful, and made other women beautiful too. Her cosmetics company, Wings to Beauty, was so successful she was hailed as Business Woman of the Year – twice — and she lectured at Harvard.
Nancy’s previous plays have been produced in NYC in numerous theaters, including off-Broadway and Broadway, as well as internationally. She has toured cross-country with her one woman show, “Florida Girls,” and a Broadway production of another of her plays is currently in the works.
All proceeds from the show are being donated to the Scranton Cultural Center to assist in their building restoration and ongoing operation. Doors will open at 5 pm and the show will start at 6pm!
