Scranton Civic Ballet Company presents On Stage Please

Scranton Civic Ballet Company will present On Stage Please, the culmination of its season, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple. Under the artistic direction of Miss Helen Gaus, 125 students, ages 3 and up, will perform.

On Stage Please is the culmination of the season. All of the students’ hard work and classes come to an end this night. Four seniors graduate,” said Miss Helen Gaus, referencing Sarah Jones, Rayna Raemsch, Brittney Thomas, and Willow Thomas. Miss Gaus founded The Scranton Civic Ballet Company in 1978. A non-profit organization focused on dance education and performance, the Company aims to educate its members and the public in the art of dance, while bringing the talents of well-known artists, choreographers, and master teachers into northeast Pennsylvania for students as well as audiences.

On Stage Please offers a diversified program featuring more than 125 students of ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. Tickets for the public performance, hosted at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, can be purchased at the Cultural Center Box Office at a cost of $17, plus fees. The professional standard of instruction at the Scranton Civic Ballet Company is focused on achieving a disciplined technique centered on strength, flexibility coordination, grace, musicality, body alignment and poise. Little Dragon Campers will get creative while experiencing the performing and visual arts during this FUZZY camp session! Your young performer will have a blast as we create characters, sings songs, learn choreography and make art inspired by some of our favorite household critters! This session will culminate with a special performance for friends and family!

SummerStage performers will be sent to MUSICAL THEATRE BOOT CAMP as they develop some seriously impressive skills!  Try out new accents, sharpen your improv skills, learn proper vocal technique, and develop some mad stage combat skills all while having a blast!  During this session, students will get to work with a new special guest artist EVERY day who will teach them an array of valuable performance skills.  This is the perfect way for any young performer to kick off their summer!

You Can’t Stop the Beat during this exciting session of camp!  Students will sing, dance and act their way through three fun-filled weeks of rehearsals before performing on the Historic Mainstage of the SCC!  Hairspray Jr is a Broadway smash-hit that embraces themes of Diversity, Friendship and Love!  Throw on your dancin’ shoes and get ready to have fun!

*** SPECIAL EXCEPTION: Hairspray Jr. is open to performers in the 4th grade! ***

Campers will spend this week having fun with the arts!  Little Dragons will develop countless new skills as they experience the visual and performing arts like never before!  Campers will clown around as they learn silly songs, and create crazy characters– they will get crafty while painting masterpieces and they will be having an absolute BLAST every step of the way!  This session will culminate with a special performance for friends and family!
