John Cardoni, Facility and Technical Director

John started at the SCC in 2000, and is a 35 year veteran of the theater industry. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. he studied voice at Wilkes University and won several state and national awards as a baritone before pursuing a B.F.A. in Theater Design & Management from the Pennsylvania State University and graduate level studies in Opera Production and Management from Colorado College. John has worked in the capacity of technical director, lighting designer, production stage manager and performer with companies ranging from Minnesota Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera Theater, the Annenberg Center of the University of Pennsylvania, Suffolk County Community College and the F. M. Kirby Center. He is the founding president of the Choral Society of NEPA with which he also performs and has sung with the Lyric Consort. He has designed lighting for over 300 stage productions and several historic landmarks, including the Market Street Bridge in Wilkes Barre, the Peking Chef Restaurant in PA and the exterior of the SCC. John is a member of Union Lodge #291, the Valley of Scranton and Knights of Pythias. John currently lives in Dupont, PA. with his wife of 28 years, Dr. Agnes Cardoni, a member of the English faculty at Marywood University, and their son, Christopher. He cannot dance and they never let him out of the basement without supervision...
