DOUGLAS L. SMITH

Principal Instrument – Bass Violin

Attended Penn State University, 1964 – 1967, Eastman School of Music, 1968 and clinics taught by Bassist Dave Holland. Toured with the Penn State Improvisatory Ensemble, the Jazz Spokesman, Morris Rolland Band, Tuesday Jazztet and the Dixieland All-Stars. Has made a full-time living as a musician since 1968, playing concerts, jazz festivals, night clubs, resorts, public schools and universities. Performed on a number of jazz albums, CD’s, videos and T.V. and radio specials. Main field of interest is in totally improvised solo and group interactive music. Has performed with Al Cohn, George Young, Bob Dorough, Kim Parker, Bob Degen, Larry Gelb, Cab Calloway, Vic Juris, Joe Morello, Marko Marcinko, Hal Linden and Bobby Rydell. Collaborations with performance artist John Bromberg, since 1990 and improvisational pianist, Ron Stabinsky 2001 to present. Has also worked with Peter Shumann, director of “Bread and Puppet Theatre,” Vermont, 2008. Member of Pocono Bass Quartet, International Society of Bassists, Audio Engineering Society, Acoustical Society of America, Northeast PA Arts in Education Advisory Panel and Scranton Area Foundation PPA Advisory Board. Serves on the Executive Board of Local #120 American Federation of Musicians, Scranton, PA, leads the Dixieland All-Stars Band, Doug Smith Jazz Quintet and has conducted the House Orchestra at Skytop Lodge in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains since 1990. Also heads the Lexington Entertainment Agency.

Erin Malloy


Volcalist

Erin graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and began touring the US in "A Chorus Line" as Maggie. Since then, she has performed at many well known regional theatres such as Arena Stage (Wash DC), Walnut Street theatre( Philadelphia) and many more. She last toured America with the legendary Ann-Margret in "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". She has sung back-up for many well known singers such as Beyonce and Josh Groban. Currently,she resides back in Scranton where she has been performing with Marko Marcinko and regularly every weekend at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Mohegan Sun Casino.

Michele Conaboy



Michele Conaboy 22 years old and thrilled to be performing in her second performance at the Scranton Cultural Center. She is currently a senior at Temple University, pursuing her degree in Music Education. Michele has been involved in the arts her whole life and has been performing for audiences all over the region. The roles she is most proud of are Mayzie in “Seussical the Musical and Mary Magdalene in “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Michele is also the director and producer of a production called “The Giving Gig,” a Broadway Revue benefitting St. Joseph’s Center starring children from all over the area. This summer will be the third production. Michele is very grateful for all of the opportunities she has been given to perform. Her goal is to continue to pursue the performing arts and to teach the great gift of music to children. She would also like to thank the Scranton Cultural center for giving her the chance to perform with such talented and gifted musicians and performers at this wonderful show.
